(Updated 08 May 2008) LONG TERM CO-WORKERS: House leaders & Upper School Co-ordinatorCamphill School urgently seeks experienced, committed House Leaders to manage two of our houses and an Upper School Co-ordinator for our Upper School Programme. Our school community is entering a new, exciting phase of development, which has already attracted teachers and house parents. Due to changing tasks within our small community, we now need enthusiastic, mature, trained co-workers to take on our Upper School students’ house (Cloister House) and its workshop programme. Cloister House caters for 12 resident and 3 day, adolescent students of mixed ability and potential. Currently, 8 co-workers and an employed cook support the housemother in creating a vibrant, lively household. Our longstanding Housemother is willing to lead new applicants in to their new role with its manifold tasks, so that a gradual handover can take place. The house itself, built around a courtyard and garden, also contains 4 workshops, where the students learn craft, baking and other activities. Currently, the workshops are run by co-workers in Cloister House, but we eventually hope to attract trained work masters to take this work on and develop it. The Upper School Co-ordinator will be expected to organise the learning programme and workshops for our upper school students. We hope that they can lead a workshop and/or teach Main Lessons and take an active role in the lives of these young people. We are also looking for a House leader to take on our smallest house, St. Martin’s, where we have four children and supporting co-workers. This position is available from June 2008. KINDERGARTEN TEACHER In January, all our Kindergarten children moved up to Class 1. We have a fully equipped space with its own playground, 10 children ready and waiting to come, but no teacher. We want to start an integrated Kindergarten with 6 Mainstream children and 4 with special needs who will stay all day. We want to find someone who can train local assistants. The medium of teaching is English, so we need a fluent English speaker even if it is not their first language. The assistants will speak Afrikaans and Xhosa, so will be able to translate where necessary. The ideal applicant will have Waldorf and Curative Education training and experience and want to join our Community as a co-worker as soon as possible.
