Camphill Farm
Camphill Farm Community was founded in 1978 and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
We are an intentional community living and working with people with special needs.
Camphill Farm Community is part of the International Camphill Movement, consisting
of more than one hundred like-minded communities all over the world.
Supported living: Most of our co-workers and residents live in eight family-units, where we share our daily lives
and give each other support as required. A new concept has recently been introduced and will be expanded in future whereby residents operate on their own initiative in
virtually independent living units within our community and even in the wider community of Hermanus.
Supported working: The original idea of early Camphill communities was to have enterprises as a means of generating surplus funds for the communities, as well as providing
meaningful employment for the residents. In order for Camphill Farm Community to stay financially viable in the medium and long term, there needs to be a renewed emphasis
on the economic performance of our enterprises, without jeopardizing the unique Camphill quality of meaningful employment. We also have initiated
opportunities for residents to work in the open market in Hermanus.
