We are a Christian based, non-denominational organization based on the teachings of Dr.Rudolf Steiner. The work in our community is meaningful and diverse, although not always easy and comfortable.
All co-workers receive board and lodging and a modest personal allowance.
QUALIFICATIONS: You need to have a genuine interest in living in community with people with intellectual or multiple disabilities and supporting them. Previous experience in this field of work would be helpful. It is essential to have good organization and communication skills and to be able to cope with long working hours and challenges.

DESCRIPTION: A position for a Biodynamic Garden Manager at Camphill Farm Community, Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa, exists. The organic farm garden is one hectare and specialising in the growth and distribution of biodynamic products.
Hermanus is an hour and a half from the city of Cape Town, and is one of the top tourist destinations, especially for whale watching.
Camphill Farm Community comprises of about 60 adults with varying degrees of special needs. People from all over the world work here to contribute to our core business, namely caring for our residents.

Volunteers
All voluntary co-workers receive their board and lodging and a modest monthly pocket money or allowance to cover their private expenses. The voluntary co-workers give
the benefit of their work to the community and the community covers their basic needs.
Short-term co-workers
Volunteers who join the community for a fixed period of one to two years are called short-term co-workers. The major functions of short term co-workers are:
Assisting house leaders with household chores such as cooking, cleaning and laundry
Helping to take care of the residents and assisting them with their personal hygiene
In the absence of the house leaders they take responsibility for the house and residents for short periods of time
Working alongside long-term co-workers and residents in the various workshops
Contributing actively to the home life and also to the communitys cultural and social life
Long-term co-workers
Long term co-workers serve as house leaders and workshop managers. They also take responsibility for the management and administration of the community. They uphold
the social, cultural and spiritual life of the village. Some long-term co-workers are couples with their own families who share a home with a number of residents.
Their financial needs may differ from those of the short-term co-workers and are subject to negotiation.
Co-workers have to be at least 19 years of age.
Training for co-workers
Apart from the hands-on training which co-workers receive in the house and the enterprises, courses covering various topics related to our care work, Anthroposophy
and the Camphill way of life, are offered. All new co-workers join a bi-monthly information- and discussion meeting during their first year.
